Definition - Identity theft is when someone uses your personal information to use or buy or obtain something frequently in that persons name.

How Can I Avoid This?

  1. Shred your bills that you are going to disregard.
  2. Don't share your social security number.
  3. Don't share your account number.
  4. Read your bills and statements.
  5. Password protect your accounts, (Don't Share your passcode)

I think I Have Been A Victim Of Identify Theft What Can I Do?

  1. Call the police and find out what they say.
  2. Contact the place were the identity theft happened.
  3. Call your credit card company.
  4. Call your credit bureau.
  5. If applicable change your social security number.

All funds in a “noninterest-bearing transaction account” are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010, through December 31, 2012.  This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.

The term “noninterest-bearing transaction account” includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest.  It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit account that may earn interest, NOW accounts, money-market deposit accounts, and Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (“IOLTAs”).
